Streams

Our mission is to demonstrate the love of Jesus through programs and relationships that build a healthier neighborhood. Our vision is to be the hub of a vibrant, growing, empowering community where neighbors are committed to the growth of each other, while maintaining our uncompromised values and love for Jesus.

Focus Verse
“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” John 13:34-35

Prayer Prompts

• Praise the Lord for his faithfulness to Streams and the opportunities he has provided for us to demonstrate the love of Jesus.
• Praise the Lord for our many supporters and for the completion of the building addition.
• Pray that the Lord will bless this place and the activities that occur here.
• Pray that the Lord will utilize Streams to empower our neighbors and grow our community.
• Pray that our community will continue to embrace Streams and the programs offered.
• Pray for God’s continued guidance and provision as we seek to bring him glory in all that we do.

Food Center

Our community Food Center provides supplemental food to local families. We use a client-choice environment that protects the dignity of each visitor and encourages relationships.

Focus Verse
“For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.” Matthew 25:35-36

Prayer Prompts

• Praise the Lord for the resources, and support from local organizations to be able to provide food for community families.
• Praise the Lord for the volunteers that regularly give of their time to help stock, and shop with clients.
• Pray that the Lord will be with the volunteers and provide them a chance to extend the love of Jesus to our neighbors.
• Pray for God’s continued provision in supplying the resources and volunteers needed to run the food center.
• Pray for each individual and family that we serve. Pray that the Lord will move in their lives, that they can find safe, stable housing, well-paying jobs, and access to the resources they are in need of.
• Pray that the food, our neighbors receive will provide them with nourishment and strength.

Tutoring

We offer free tutoring for students in grades 1-5. Students meet weekly with a certified teacher for a 45 minute session.

Focus Verse
“Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.” Proverbs 22:6

Prayer Prompts

• Pray for each student and tutor that is a part of our program.
• Pray for tutors to have patience and wisdom on how to best help the students learn.
• Pray that students will have clear minds to focus when they come to their session.
• Pray that the Lord will bless relationships between tutors and students and provide tutors the chance to share the love of Jesus.
• Pray for the program to grow and God to provide more tutors as it does.

SWAG

Students in grades 6-12 participate in SWAG. SWAG (Succeeding Well Achieving Greatness), is a program that encourages students to think critically, make good choices, and teaches them life skills. Students also share a meal together and have free time to play games.

Focus Verse
“In everything set them an example by doing what is good. In your teaching show integrity, seriousness and soundness of speech that cannot be condemned, so that those who oppose you may be ashamed because they have nothing bad to say about us.” Titus 2:7-8

Prayer Prompts

• Pray for each student and leader that participates in our program.
• Pray that students will attend the whole program, be engaged, and open to learning.
• Pray for good relationships between leaders and students.
• Pray for leaders to have wisdom and the right words and for students to take the lessons to heart.
• Pray for students to be empowered by what they are learning and in turn empower their peers.
• Pray for the program to grow and God to move more individuals to volunteer as leaders.

Thrive

Thrive is a program designed to connect and support community members who want to move from surviving to thriving. Participants, or innovators, meet weekly for trainings, meals and time spent with mentors.

Focus Verse
“He died for us so that, whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with him. Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.” 1 Thessalonians 5:10-11

Prayer Prompts

• Pray for relationships between innovators and mentors to develop and flourish.
• Pray for the growth of the program and community engagement in it.
• Pray for innovators and mentors to have open hearts, and learn from one another’s experiences.
• Pray for the Lord to prompt partner churches and individuals to get involved and volunteer for the program.
• Pray for the program to succeed in helping families climb out of poverty and achieve
  financial stability.

Adult Education Program

This program empowers adult learners to earn their GED or high school diploma. In partnership with Sparta Public Schools, we surround students with a group of caring, highly qualified instructors to help support their studies.

“The one who gets wisdom loves life; the one who cherishes understanding will soon prosper.”

Prayer Prompts

• Pray for each participant to have focus and grow in knowledge.
• Pray for each participant to reach their goal.
• Pray for the instructors to have wisdom as they support participants.
• Pray for the Lord to grow the program and prompt more people to participate.

Community Garden

Through our community garden, we provide the green space and tools for our neighbors to grow healthy produce together and strengthen community bonds.

Focus Verse
“Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness. You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.” 2 Corinthians 9:10-11

Prayer Prompts

• Praise the Lord for his creation and the ability to have a community garden.
• Pray for the Lord to bless each gardener and provide them with a plentiful harvest.
• Pray for the Lord’s protection over each plot and harvest.
• Pray that the Lord will rejuvenate the soil each year, so that it is ready for the next growing season.
• Pray that the Lord will bless the program and that the garden would be a place where people feel welcome, build relationships, and learn from one another.
• Pray that the food grown will provide physical nourishment and strength for our neighbors.

Our Partner: Catherine’s Health Center

We are so blessed to partner with Catherine’s as they provide needed mental, dental and behavioral healthcare for our community.
