July 2025 Newsletter

As we enter the heart of summer in Michigan, we may find ourselves traveling, resting, and enjoying the beauty around us! It seems that most summer destinations end up near water. There is something about water that refreshes and restores the mind and soul. Hopefully, you have a chance to find a body of water and appreciate its effects. I hope this month will provide you with an opportunity to pause, reflect, and be open to the movement of the Holy Spirit. May the warmth that July brings us be matched by the fire of our prayers!

  • Food Center: The number of families we are serving each month continues to rise, averaging 570 per month so far in 2025.  As our numbers have increased, donations have not, leaving a gap that continues to grow. Please pray for God’s continued provision and ways that you might be a part of helping us fill the growing need.

  • Tutoring: Our summer tutoring program is off to a strong start!  We have 90 students enrolled!  Praising God for the new Kindergarten Kickstart program that launched this summer and the 18 students that are getting an extra boost to start Kindergarten STRONG this fall!  Please pray for all of the students who are attending and that they will feel loved and welcomed by our tutors and staff.

  • Summer Community Nights: Our first community night was a huge success.  Prayers of Thanksgiving for South Harbor Church for providing the food, games, and bounce house, along with so many willing volunteers!  We had over 200 community members attend.  Please pray that those who attended were able to connect with needed resources in our community.  Please pray as we prepare for our next community night on July 16, and for Hillside Church and their volunteers who will help make that night happen!

  • GEMS:  We are continuing to pray for God to lead the right leader to us so that this valuable program can continue.  Please pray with us for this!

  • We are so thankful for the faithful volunteers and supporters that God has blessed us with.  Please join us with prayers of thanksgiving for our staff, volunteers, and all of our supporters at Streams.

  • Please pray for our families that continue to experience additional financial strain with cuts in food benefits, rising costs in rent, and struggles with health and employment.  Pray that we at Streams can be the hands and feet of Jesus and a ray of hope to these families.

Current News

  • Food Needed!  We are running out of key food items and need donations. As summer approaches, our need for these items will increase with students home from school.  We would love it if you, your small group, or your church would consider doing a food drive. Donations can be dropped off at Streams, Monday through Thursday, between 11 am and 3 pm. Email heidi@streamsgr.org with questions! The items we need most are:

    • Cereal

    • Cereal bars

    • Pasta/Rice

    • Diapers and Wipes (sizes 5 and 6)

    • Crackers

  • Amazon Wish List:  We have put together a list of items that are consistently needed at Streams that can be purchased on Amazon and will be shipped directly to Streams.  Please use this link to access our wish list and consider donating in this efficient way!

As we enter the heart of summer in Michigan, we may find ourselves traveling, resting, and enjoying the beauty around us!  Hopefully, you have a chance to change your pace and clear your mind a bit.  I hope this month will provide you with an opportunity to pause, reflect, and be open to the movement of the Holy Spirit.  May the warmth that July brings us be matched by the fire of our prayers!

“He leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul.”    -Psalm 23:2-3

Prayer

Lord, You lead us beside still waters, to quiet places where our souls can breathe.   Amid noise and chaos, you draw us to rest in your presence.  Lord, help us to have ears that are open and willing to listen to the Holy Spirit as we seek guidance to further your kingdom in all that we do.  Please continue to bless and protect the work that is being done at Streams, and help us to trust and believe in your continued provision.

Amen
