Streams of Hope awarded this year’s Herman Snyder Kindness Matters Memorial Award to Ken Visser. This award is given each year to a member of the Streams of Hope community who demonstrates genuine kindness through their everyday lives and participation at Streams of Hope. Ken was honored for these virtues at our annual volunteer Christmas party. Upon receiving the award, he said:

“From my heart, I want to thank you for this unexpected honor. You know me well enough to know that I rarely am speechless, but last week I was. It was such a wonderful surprise to be chosen for this award. It is pure joy to serve Streams and I know that we are doing what God has called us to be. To stand side by side with you and all the helpers at Streams is my highest privilege.”

Ken Visser is a board member and frequent volunteer of the Community Garden and Food Center. He had been a devoted volunteer at the Food Center since its inception in 2012. During his 6.5 years as a volunteer, his enthusiasm has never faltered. Ken has enjoyed shopping with the clients and developing close relationships with them, willing to go the extra mile with a smile for everyone.,

He is dependable, warm-hearted, and caring, truly showing that kindness does matter to the clients and fellow volunteers he encounters.
