August 2024 Prayer Newsletter

Hard to believe we are already entering August! Summer at Streams has flown by with lots of activities. As we head into August and begin fall preparations join us in lifting the following requests to our Heavenly Father:

• Food Center: Pray for continued food donations to meet the needs of the 530+ families that come each month. Pray for the families that walk through our doors. Many are struggling with not only food insecurity but also health issues, unemployment and unstable housing.
• Tutoring: Praise God for each student that attended summer tutoring. This fall we are implementing a reading assessment program. Pray for this transition to go smoothly and provide us with useful information to help identify individual needs of students.
• Summer Community Nights: Praise God for community engagement this summer. Next week Wednesday we are hosting our last community night. This event will be focused on back to school, with giveaways and resources to launch families into fall. Pray for a great turnout and good weather.
• Streams ‘U’: Praise God for good engagement with summer activities. As we head into fall pray for the start of 2 new classes, one on workforce development and another on finances. Pray for participants and that the classes will benefit those that attend.
• SWAG (Middle/High School): SWAG relaunched this summer with some exciting program changes. We are grateful for the 12 students that have consistently attended. We have the capacity for more students. Pray that God will lead students to the program.
• Summer is traditionally a time when our donations decline, although our expenses remain constant. As we aim to continue providing programming through the rest of summer and into the school year, join us in praying for the financial resources to do so.
• Pray for wisdom and guidance as our staff continues planning for fall programming.

Current News

• Food/Diaper Drive: Summer remains busy with lots of food flying off our shelves. We could greatly use a food or diaper drive. If your church, small group or organization would be willing to help out, let us know! Reach out to makalah@streamsgr.org or heidi@streamsgr.org for more details.
• Donations: Please consider donating to help us bridge our financial gap into fall. Also, think about friends or family who might be capable of giving a gift and encourage them to donate as well. If you or your church feel called to help out by giving financially, go to https://streamsgr.org/donate/ to learn how.

• Thank you! A huge thank you to Ada Bible Lifeline! In July their students collected dry goods and diapers for our food center and they also sent out a team to help clean our campus during their serve week. What a blessing!
