Spiritual Care

Form – Prayer Request

Everyone who walks through our doors carries more than a visible need.

You are more than what brought you here.

We are grateful for every connection Streams makes possible, yet there are things a meal cannot reach and a health appointment cannot touch. Grief. Questions. Fear. Longing. These things matter just as deeply as anything else we offer here.

Spiritual Care is how we tend to that.

Our Approach

Streams occupies a particular space in this neighborhood. We are not a church. We are not simply a benevolence organization. We exist somewhere in between — a bridge between practical community care and the deeper nourishment that happens when people feel genuinely seen.

Our spiritual care is rooted in the life and teachings of Jesus, and specifically in his insistence on loving the neighbor without condition. That conviction shapes everything we do. But it does not mean we require you to share it. In practice, that looks like this: we will not use your vulnerability as leverage. We will not make care contingent on agreement. We will not treat spiritual support like a transaction.

We are also a trauma-informed community. Many of our neighbors carry experiences of harm, including harm done in the name of religion. We take that seriously. We move at the pace of trust. We do not assume. We do not push. We believe that often the most healing thing we can offer is a safe, steady, human presence — one that reflects the dignity we believe every person carries.

The love of Jesus, as we understand it, does not coerce. It accompanies. It bears witness.

That is the heart of our approach.

What We Offer

Spiritual care at Streams is available to everyone in our community, no matter where you stand with faith or religion. You do not have to believe anything in particular to receive care here. You just have to be a person willing to be met.

Chaplaincy in the Food Center

Our Spiritual Care Director serves as a chaplain presence in the Food Center. That means someone is there not just to help with logistics, but to listen. To pray if you’d like. To sit with you for a moment if you need it. Pastoral care without pressure, and support without strings.

We take prayer seriously. Submit a request and our Spiritual Care team will hold it with both care and confidence.

Spiritual Questions & Support

Loss is heavy. Transition is hard. Loneliness doesn’t announce itself and rarely asks permission. If you are carrying something that feels too much to carry alone, we want you to know there is someone here for that.

We offer light pastoral care conversations for anyone walking through grief or a difficult season of life. This is not therapy, and we are not a church. But we are a community that believes spiritual accompaniment makes a real difference.

"In a difficult season, Streams was more than a resource. We found people who listened, cared, prayed with us, and reminded us that we weren't alone."
